Larsen & Toubro (+57), Bharti Airtel (+54) and Kotak Mahindra Bank (+49) did the most to lift it; Reliance Industries (−36) and Shriram Finance (−13) held it back. Foreign portfolio investors bought a net ₹7,477 crore of shares on the exchanges, while mutual funds sold ₹1,213 crore. Growth of ₹100 since the close of 31 Jul 2026: large-, mid- and small-cap indices
₹100 put into each index at the close of 31 Jul 2026, then weekly closes, with dividends reinvested (total return index). The 13 weeks to 30 Oct 2026, with last week shaded. Before costs and taxes. The Nifty 100 is the largest 100 companies, the Midcap 150 the next 150 and the Smallcap 250 the 250 after them.
For example: A line that ends at ₹260 means ₹100 invested at the starting close is worth ₹260 now, before costs and taxes.

Measured to the last close, 30 Oct 2026. A span shorter than a year is not turned into a yearly rate. Falls are measured on weekly closes, so the deepest day can be a little lower. A different start date gives different numbers: the table answers one question, what ₹100 at that close became.

Last week: contributions by index, sector and stock
Drill down
Index, sector and stock contributions
Each row shows two numbers: its own change, which ignores its size, and its contribution to the move of the level above, which is that change scaled by its size. Select an index to see its sectors, then a sector to see its stocks.
For example: If the Nifty 50 falls 300 points and HDFC Bank takes 60 of them off, HDFC Bank's contribution is −60 points, 20% of the fall, whatever its own price change.
Last week, 26 Oct 2026 – 30 Oct 2026: the Nifty 500 rose 2.2%, and its companies added ₹8.45 lakh cr of market value; 189 of 500 shares fell.
Own change is NSE Indices' change in each index. Contribution is the change in market value of the companies on each index's list today (shares in issue × price): it compares across indices, and the four tiers, Nifty 50, Next 50, Midcap 150 and Smallcap 250, add up to the Nifty 500. The Nifty 100 and Nifty 500 overlap the tiers. Shares are of the net move, so the parts that moved with it add up to more than 100% and the ones that moved against it offset the difference. Price changes are adjusted for splits, bonus issues and demergers; dividends are left out.
Largest stock moves by index and sector
The stocks that pulled an index down and the ones that held it up. Rank them by their own price change or by their contribution to the index's move, and narrow the list by index and sector.
For example: A smallcap stock can fall 20% and barely move the Nifty 500, while a 2% fall in a company worth ₹10 lakh crore takes ₹20,000 crore off the index's companies.
Nifty 500, last week (26 Oct 2026 – 30 Oct 2026): 500 stocks; 189 fell and 310 rose. The 10 that lifted most account for 32% of the rise.

NSE Indices publishes no stock weights for the Nifty 500, so contribution is each company's change in market value: value before the period × its price change. Large companies dominate it, as they dominate a market-value-weighted index. Shares are of the Nifty 500's companies' combined change. Price changes are adjusted for splits, bonus issues and demergers; dividends are left out.

Largest falls and rises, Friday 30 Oct 2026
The listed companies that lost and added the most market value in the session, with the value of their shares traded on NSE and the share of those shares delivered, that is, shares that changed owner rather than being bought and sold within the session. A fall on high delivery is selling that stuck; who sold is published only for bulk and block deals, listed against the stock.
For example: If 1 crore shares of a company trade in a session and 40 lakh are delivered, 40% changed owner; the other 60 lakh were bought and sold within the day.

Bulk and block deals by client, Friday 30 Oct 2026
The only trades NSE publishes with names: a bulk deal is a client trading 0.5% or more of a company's shares in a session; a block deal is a single trade of ₹10 crore or more in the block window. Open a stock to see the five clients that sold and the five that bought the most. Each client is netted; trading firms that bought and sold about the same are listed apart, since they neither bought nor sold the stock for good. 25 stocks, largest net selling or buying first.

- GHISALLO MASTER FUND LP +₹191 cr bulk deal

- ICICI PRUDENTIAL LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED +₹139 cr bulk deal
7 named clients: ₹1,039 cr bought and ₹2,395 cr sold in these deals in all. Every other trade in the stock is anonymous.
Value lost or added is each company's market value at the close before the session × its adjusted price change. Value traded and delivery are NSE's figures for NSE alone; BSE's trades are not included. Exchanges do not publish who sold a particular stock each day: shareholding by investor type comes quarterly from companies.

Last week runs from the close of 23 Oct 2026 to the close of 30 Oct 2026. This year starts at the last close of December. Three, five and ten years start at the month-end on or before the same date that many years ago (ten years: 30 Oct 2016); those columns are compound rates a year. Before costs and taxes.
4 · Investor flows
Net purchases by foreign investors, mutual funds and other investors
Last week (26 Oct 2026 – 30 Oct 2026): foreign portfolio investors bought a net ₹7,477 cr on the exchanges; mutual funds sold ₹1,213 cr; everyone else, implied, sold ₹6,264 cr.
Weekly net equity purchases by investor group
Foreign portfolio investors (NSDL) and mutual funds (SEBI), by trading day, added up by week. Every share bought is sold by someone, so the rest of the market — individuals, insurers, pension funds, banks, companies and brokers — took the other side: that is the implied part. Each bar stacks the buyers above zero and the sellers below, so in a week both reports cover in full the two halves match. The 13 weeks to 30 Oct 2026, with last week shaded.
For example: If foreign investors sell a net ₹8,000 crore of shares in a week and mutual funds buy a net ₹5,000 crore, everyone else bought the remaining ₹3,000 crore.

SIP money and share buying, month by month
What investors paid into mutual funds through SIPs each month (AMFI, every kind of scheme) beside what mutual funds and foreign investors bought net on the exchanges. Months that overlap the 13 weeks to 30 Oct 2026. SIP figures run to Aug 2026, the latest in the mutual fund topics' pinned AMFI file.
For example: If SIPs bring in ₹30,000 crore in a month and funds buy a net ₹20,000 crore of shares, SIP money was 1.5 times the funds' share buying; the rest went to hybrid and debt schemes, cash or redemptions.
₹ crore / lakh crore
- SIP contributions, all schemes (AMFI)
- Mutual funds' net share purchases (SEBI)
- Foreign investors' net share purchases (NSDL)
In Aug 2026 SIPs brought ₹32,297 cr into mutual funds of every kind. Funds bought a net ₹56,979 cr of shares on the exchanges, and foreign investors bought a net ₹10,231 cr. SIP money equalled 57% of the funds' net share buying.
This shows the two side by side; it does not trace SIP money into shares. SIPs also go into hybrid, debt and index funds, and funds also buy with lump sums and pay out redemptions. AMFI publishes SIP money monthly only, so no daily figure exists. A month marked * is not over.
Index futures positioning by investor group
Share of each group's open Nifty, Bank Nifty and other index futures contracts that are long, at each week's last session. Below 50% means more short contracts than long. It shows positioning and hedging, not views alone. The 13 weeks to 30 Oct 2026, with last week shaded.
For example: A group holding 30,000 long and 70,000 short index futures contracts is 30% long.

5 · Market breadth
Market breadth and changes in market value
Last week (26 Oct 2026 – 30 Oct 2026): all companies on NSE's main board together added ₹9.08 lakh cr of market value through price moves, 2.1% of the ₹442.42 lakh cr they were worth at the start. The largest company moves are in the movers list in section 1.
Share of stocks that rose each week
Share of listed companies (NSE main board) whose shares traded in every session of the week and ended it higher. A falling index with most shares rising is a narrow fall, driven by a few large companies; the reverse is a narrow rise. The 13 weeks to 30 Oct 2026, with last week shaded.
For example: If 2,000 companies' shares traded in every session of a week and 1,200 of them ended higher, the reading is 60%.

6 · Valuation
Weekly price-to-earnings ratios by index and sector
Price-to-earnings ratio by index and sector
NSE Indices' price-to-earnings ratios on consolidated earnings, which NSE has used since 31 March 2021; earlier figures used standalone earnings and are not comparable. The 13 weeks to 30 Oct 2026, with last week shaded. Pick up to 6 indices and sectors below.
For example: A P/E of 22 means investors pay ₹22 for each ₹1 of profit the index companies earned over the past year.
price to earnings (consolidated earnings), times
- Nifty 50
- Nifty Midcap 150
- Nifty Smallcap 250
- Last week
- Nifty 50: 20.3× against a median of 22.1× since Apr 2021 (range 18.9× to 33.6×). Lower than in 266 of the 293 weeks since April 2021.
- Nifty Midcap 150: 27.8× against a median of 30.1× since Apr 2021 (range 22.0× to 45.1×). Lower than in 180 of the 293 weeks since April 2021.
- Nifty Smallcap 250: 32.4× against a median of 28.9× since Apr 2021 (range 16.9× to 48.0×). Higher than in 230 of the 293 weeks since April 2021.
A lower P/E after a fall means prices dropped faster than earnings; it is not a forecast. Earnings can still be revised down. The median and range are over every week since consolidated earnings began, whatever span the chart shows.
7 · Quarterly
Foreign ownership of the Nifty indices, by sector, company and fund
Updates quarterly
Foreign ownership of the Nifty indices
Each block is one period's change in foreign portfolio investors' ownership, the darkest the latest; the dot is the net. Changes come from companies' own shareholding, with each company weighted by its market value, so price moves are left out. Open a row to go down a level: index, sector, company, then the foreign funds the company names.
For example: If the Nifty 50's companies were together 22% owned by foreign investors and HDFC Bank, a tenth of the index, saw its foreign ownership fall 5 points, HDFC Bank took 0.5 points off the index's foreign ownership.
Each index on its own: how much its foreign ownership changed because its companies' foreign shareholdings changed. Unit: percentage points of the index's foreign ownership.
Ownership is foreign-held shares ÷ all shares, from the share counts in each company's shareholding pattern. A company's part of an index's change is its change in foreign ownership × its share of the index's market value at the quarter-end (members at the start of the quarter). The index rows also show the actual change; the rest of it is price and membership: foreign-heavy stocks rising or falling against the rest, and companies joining or leaving.
Membership: the Nifty 50 and Next 50 (and so the Nifty 100) use each quarter-end's members from NSE Indices' weightage files; the Nifty 200, Midcap 150, Smallcap 250 and Nifty 500 use today's lists for every quarter, because NSE Indices publishes no earlier ones. Shareholding patterns are filed within 21 days of a quarter-end; the latest quarter is marked provisional until every company has filed and none has revised.
8 · Fortnightly
Foreign net investment by sector (NSDL)
Updates fortnightly
Foreign net investment by sector
NSDL's net equity investment by foreign portfolio investors in each sector, every half-month. Blocks right of zero are net buying, left are net selling, the darkest the latest; the dot is the net. Open a sector to check it against its companies.
For example: If foreign investors put a net ₹4,000 crore into financial services shares in the first half of a month and took out ₹6,000 crore in the second, the sector's row shows a green block, a red block and a net of −₹2,000 crore.
Every NSDL sector, largest net buying first. The row above is all foreign equity investment. Unit: net investment, ₹.
NSDL counts every foreign equity holding in a sector, listed and unlisted, including new issues and other routes, and names no index or company. It reports net investment for the 1st–15th and the 16th–month-end in the report it dates at each month-end. NSE's daily FII figure (section 4) is provisional and on a different basis, so a fortnight's total will not match it exactly.
Daily detail
Daily net purchases by investor group, week to 30 Oct 2026
NSDL reports foreign investors' trades the next business day and SEBI mutual funds' trades by trading date, so the latest sessions fill in a day or two later.

Methodology and definitions
Coverage
Weeks run Monday to Friday and end at the week's last trading session; a week still in progress is marked so. Index levels are NSE Indices' closes; total return indices reinvest dividends before tax. A stock's index points are its weight at the previous close times its return times the index level, from NSE Indices' official month-end weights carried forward with prices; NSE publishes weights for the Nifty 50 and Nifty Next 50 only, so for the Midcap 150, Smallcap 250 and Nifty 500 a stock's part is its change in market value. Price changes are adjusted for splits, bonus issues and demergers and leave dividends out. Rupee amounts are ₹ crore (1 lakh crore = 100,000 crore); US dollars use NSDL's rate of each day. Positive flows are net purchases. A missing value is blank, never zero.
Stock contribution method
NSE Indices publishes each Nifty 50 and Nifty Next 50 stock's index market capitalisation at every month-end (the Nifty 100 is the two together). Carried forward with the stock's daily price, it gives the stock's weight at each close; weight × the next session's return × the index level is the stock's points that day, and a period's points are the sum of its sessions. Each day the stocks' points must add up to the index's actual move: the median gap is a few hundredths of a point, and the build stops if a day misses by more than 0.05%. Splits and bonus issues are adjusted from NSE's corporate-action file. A dividend of 2% of the price or more is taken out of the price index on its ex-date, as NSE Indices' methodology requires, so that day's return is measured from the price less the dividend. When a company demerges a business, NSE holds a fixed-price placeholder in the index until the new company lists; the new company's prices stand in for it from its listing day (Tata Motors' commercial vehicles, Hindustan Unilever's ice cream business and Vedanta's four businesses).
Midcap 150, Smallcap 250 and Nifty 500
NSE Indices publishes no stock weights for these indices, so a stock's contribution there is its change in market value (shares in issue × price) over the period, and its share is of the companies' combined change. The indices weight free-float shares, so these shares approximate each stock's part in the index's move rather than reproduce it. A sector's own change is the change in its companies' combined market value, each company counted by its value at the start; the sector's value at the start × that change is its contribution, so a small sector can rise the most and add the least. Membership is NSE Indices' current list of each index.
Value added or lost
For every company on NSE's main board: market value (shares in issue × close) at the start of the period × the corporate-action-adjusted price return. Dividends paid are left out, so a payout is not shown as a loss; new listings and share issues are not counted as gains. On a demerger's ex-date NSE values the new shares at the previous close less the price found in the special pre-open session; that value is added back, so a demerger is not shown as a loss.
Investor flow data
Foreign portfolio investors: NSDL's daily reports, which cover the previous trading day's trades, moved back to that day; NSDL's own US-dollar figures. Mutual funds: SEBI's daily custodian reports by trading date, provisional. "Everyone else" is calculated: on the exchanges every share bought is sold by someone, so the rest of the market took the other side of the two groups' net trades. The reports are compiled separately, so this is approximate, and it is shown only for weeks both cover in full.
Day by day and who traded
The latest ten sessions are each a report period of their own, with the same index, sector and stock rows as the longer periods. For each session's 15 largest value fallers and risers across all listed companies, value traded and the share of traded shares delivered are NSE's figures for NSE (its bhavcopy and security-wise delivery position). Foreign investors' and domestic institutions' purchases and sales are NSE's provisional figures for the cash market of NSE, BSE and MSEI; NSE shows only the latest session, so they are saved each evening, and a session whose file was not saved has none. Everyone else is implied as the other side of the two groups' net trades. Bulk and block deals are NSE's files of the session, netted by client and stock; the page lists the five largest net sellers and buyers of each stock. SIP contributions are AMFI's monthly figures for every kind of scheme, set beside the month's fund and FPI purchases on the exchanges as a comparison, not a trace.
Foreign ownership (quarterly)
Each Nifty 500 company's shareholding pattern, filed within 21 days of a quarter-end, gives the shares held by foreign portfolio investors (categories I and II); ownership is those shares ÷ all shares, from share counts. Market values are NSE's at the last session on or before the quarter-end. An index's foreign ownership is foreign-held value ÷ market value over its members. Its change splits into companies' own shareholding changes, each weighted by its market value at the quarter-end, and the rest: prices moving foreign-heavy stocks against others, and members joining or leaving. The Nifty 50 and Next 50 use each quarter-end's members from NSE Indices' weightage files; the Nifty 200, Midcap 150, Smallcap 250 and Nifty 500 use today's lists, because NSE Indices publishes no earlier ones. Companies name each foreign portfolio investor holding more than 1% of their shares; a holder's change counts only between quarter-ends where it is named at both. The estimated net purchase is the change in ownership × market value; share issues and buybacks also move ownership.
Foreign investment by sector (fortnightly)
NSDL's fortnightly sector-wise FPI report: net investment by foreign portfolio investors in each sector's equity for the 1st–15th and the 16th–month-end, and their holdings at market value, read from the report NSDL dates at each month-end (from April 2022). NSDL counts every foreign equity holding, listed and unlisted, including new issues; it publishes sectors only, so a sector is checked against its Nifty 500 companies' quarterly filings rather than broken into companies.
Index futures positions
NSE Clearing's participant-wise open interest at each week's last session: clients (individuals, companies and others trading through brokers), domestic institutions, foreign investors and brokers' own trading. Futures and options are also used to hedge shares held, so a short position is not always a bet on a fall.
Data not available
Who bought and sold each stock is not published day by day: shareholding by investor type comes quarterly from companies (section 7), foreign investment by sector fortnightly from NSDL (section 8), and named bulk and block deals only for the latest session to automated readers. NSDL's DII report refuses automated clients, so this page does not use it; it does not impersonate a browser to get it. Domestic institutions' and individuals' holdings by sector are not published at all. NSE Indices publishes official weights for the Nifty 50 and Nifty Next 50 only, so index points by stock exist for those two and the Nifty 100; for the Midcap 150, Smallcap 250 and Nifty 500 the page uses market value instead. Outside the Nifty 500 the snapshot keeps only the companies with the largest value changes in each period.
